Scott Goodknight aka “the Breakthru Guy” was raised in a small town in North Texas where conservative values and stern religious beliefs guided the way he viewed the world from an early age to his late teens.

“I can remember my whole life being planned out for me by those who “knew best for me”. Looking back I know their intentions were nothing but loving, but to a young man, I felt as if I were chained to a great rock called “normality” all I could think about was escaping. Everywhere I looked I saw people living in FEAR. It seemed as if everything that everyone did was in the name of security and survival only. Risk was not tolerated very well.  They tried to convince me this is what life was all about. It was a hopeless feeling”

Dissatisfied with this narrow view Scott began reading every book he could find about men who lived daring lives of adventure. He sought out teachers and mentors who thought differently. He did things to break-thru his fears and prove to himself he could do anything.

“I learned to do anything I could that would make me different. I learned to ride motorcycles, pole vault, throw a javelin, shot put, discus, run high hurdles, run long distances. I competed in triathlons, decathlons and cross country races. I trained with an obsession few can understand. I actually ran 4 miles every morning in the dark before school. I would get up around 5:30am and read for about 20 minutes then exit the front door before anyone woke. Neither rain, snow nor sleet would stop me. One day I ran 4 in the morning and 20 miles in the afternoon after I got out of school! I was obsessed with learning to break thru pain and fear. I would do anything to overcome my fear. Sometimes I would hold my breath for over 4 minutes underwater. Sometimes I did crazy things that I’m not so proud of. But I just HAD to Break-Free!”

One day he picked up a book written almost 100 years ago and it changed his life. The author talked about the subconscious mind and how it could produce anything you could imagine by making a clear enough mental picture of it. He also talked about ways to influence it to go to work for you even while you slept. This fascinated Scott beyond belief.

But what really hooked him was the last chapter….it was totally dedicated to FEAR!

The author said he had been studying tens of thousands of people for over 20 years and that FEAR was the MAIN THING that held more people back than ANY OTHER factor. On the positive side, he said if you faced your fears over and over you could free your mind completely. So Scott set out to do just that.

He did the best thing he could think of….he dropped out of college, joined the US Army and asked for the most dangerous assignments they had. They didn’t disappoint…

Ranger School class 6-91 (middle row 2nd from L)

Scott was trained as a US Army Airborne Ranger (89-93) and faced incredible fear on a daily basis for over 4 years. He parachuted from planes in the middle of the night, lived in alligator and snake infested swamps for weeks on end and faced many real-life survival situations including the very real fear of death many, many times. He even went thru simulated POW training.

“Ranger School is not something I want to ever, ever do again. But it was the best thing that ever happened to me. I learned what I thought were my limits were only the beginning to what I could do”

Eventually Scott learned to master his fear. He even became one of the top Rangers in the US Army in 1992 by placing 5th in the Best Ranger competition.

After leaving the service Scott began teaching others to face their fears and achieve their goals but got sidetracked with several of his own business ideas. It was during this time Scott discovered NLP, short for Neuro Linguistic Programming. Scott traveled across the country and spent weeks training  with some of the top NLP trainers in the country. He become a certified facilitator in 1996. Scott used his new found skills to create his own dream job and spent the next 7 years traveling all over the country doing what he wanted to do; map making, writing, riding motorcycles and paying himself to go where he wanted to go, do what he wanted to do, and be who he wanted to be. He appeared on national TV twice, created/distributed over 2.5 million maps and published a book about his travels that sold over 50,000 copies. But the most important thing to Scott was the freedom of being his own boss. “I hate working for other people. I have never liked it. With the exception of a 3 month project a couple years ago I haven’t worked for anyone but myself since I was 25 years old.”

After a while Scott became disenchanted with his life and started craving something more.

On Oct 6th 2006 Scott had what he calls a profound “life awakening” and decided to change one thing in his life…EVERYTHING. He set out on a quest to improve every area of his life dramatically and completely. This first year of extreme discipline would become the foundations of what has now become known as the Breakthru system.

Scott went on a path of extreme self discipline and study for about 6 months, then began teaching others to do what he had done. The results were amazing.

People lost weight, stopped smoking, stopped drinking, got job promotions, started businesses, started relationships and generally shed layers of fear, shame, guilt, anger and other negative emotions in single processes Scott calls “Breakthru’s”
